Thread: Inception

    Default Inception

Saw it on IMAX last night. Quite good. It's a typical Hollywood film and fairly predictable but well executed and entertaining. Visuals are very good, though not groundbreaking as I was hearing going into the movie.

Dark City, Matrix and Existenz (which are all good films too) seem to have influenced Nolan when writing the script.

    Has anybody else seen it?

I saw it as well, thought it was quite good, when you think about it, it was really a "love story" disguised as an action sci fi movie, much akin to "True Lies".

    Tough crowd.

I saw it yesterday, and I really liked it. Typically, those kinds of convoluted scenarios end up with logical errors that go beyond the normal suspension of disbelief, but I didn't find any of those in Inception.

I thought it was really well-done, I like most of Christopher Nolan's movies and this was on par with the rest of his work.

I really liked the last part of the movie, with the multi-layered dream sequences interspersed with each other, while maintaining the variation in elapsed time. One second on top, 30 seconds in the middle, five minutes down below... totally awesome!

Seems this has been a good summer for movies, I rarely go to the theatre anymore but I've already seen four movies since April.

I thought about the Matrix too, but I never really got off on the Matrix.

Interesting Gen as I thought it was too far-fetched.

I enjoyed inception i like those types of movies that lead you to wondering what exactly the ending was .

spoiler in white ( well more of how i think it ended)
I think Saito shot Cobb pushing him deeper into limbo so he could finally be with his family , which is why the top kept spinning.

I saw it last weekend. The special effects were amazing, but the storyline and the plot, with those multi-layered dream sequences, was a bit too complex for my liking.

I'm sure this will draw a response.

This movie is for the above average intelligent individuals who can stay with the complexity of the plot.

    Loved the movie.

Totally agree, you really had to stay focused on the dialogue and not take a bathroom break or popcorn refill!

I had a discussion about this movie with someone else and he told me things that actually changed the way I thought about the ending but I can't disclose here lest I ruin it for those who haven't seen it.

(Okay, I can give a hint - did that top stop and anything unusual about the kids? PM me but don't post here).

I noticed the top did not stop spinning and I was trying to see anything out of the ordinary with the kids, but only got a glimpse and didn't notice anything. My guess was they were still in a dream, don't know what level, but I don't think the movie ended in reality, but in a dream. I might be out to lunch on this one, but it was hard to keep up with all those levels, didn't know what level we were in as it moved so fast at times.

I thought it was well done with good idea and good cinemagraphy. Only thing was it went too complex to allow me to enjoy it. Call me lazy but I spent more time trying to figure what was going on than actually enjoying it. Maybe I should stick with predictable movies. What can I say didn't like The Matrix either.

    Default Spoiler alert!

Here is one for you all...if the forger can be whomever he wants in dreams and totems should not be touched by others.

Why is it that they showed Cobb's totem being handled by an "officer" just before he got kicked. When he awakens the life he always wanted is available, where it never was before.

Was it because that was an acceptable situation for Cobb and a way for his subconscious to accept whatever inception that may have been planted...

I just saw the film last night and I have to say I was disappointed. I really liked the idea and the story, but thought that it might have been done better with different actors. Ellen Page? Really? She looks like she is twelve and I'm supposed to believe she's some sort of genius. Right. And then on top of that, she knows Cobb barely and she can figure out he's BS'ing his crew about how bad the Moll situation is? Don't you think Arthur might have figured it out before her?

Maybe I'm just annoyed at what feels like Ellen Page oversaturation (and Michael Cera, but thankfully, that's a whole other thread).
